This is the website of paper art designer Ju Yeun Lee Bailey. For over 16 years she has been perfecting her skills and technique in Hangi Paper Art under guidance of Korean paper artisan, Master Jung.
Her work attempts to break the borders of time and concept by bringing an ancient art form into the present, following an ancient air but adding a contemporary twist, expressing timeless design, crossing cultural boundaries by introducing this Korean art to Switzerland. She changes perceptions that paper is a flimsy substance, since Hangi Art can be stronger than many items purchased at furniture stores. Ms. Lee Bailey also creates beauty while freeing herself from fixed concepts of how Hangi Art should appear. Master Jung emphasized limiting the colors she used and focusing on simple lines and borders as a foundation of her designs. Traditional Hangi Art relies heavily on multiple colors and can look static. A minimalistic style requires additional precision in the craftsmanship, and heavily relies on the strength of its design. The look it offers is refreshing and modern.
